There has been a change of ownership after 23 years.
For our existing patients you will notice that there have been some cosmetic changes to the inside of the store and brand new signage to the front, however please be reassured you will still see a majority of familiar faces with only a couple of new ones. The familiar faces Jean, Fiona, Daniela and Allycia have continued on embracing the new vision of eyecare for life. The new faces are Karlee; the new owner and fellow optometrist and Michelle; the new practice manager.
Owning an independent optometry practice has been Karlee’s dream for the last 13 years since graduating from the University of Auckland in 2006. She is therapeutically qualified and is currently undertaking her Masters of Clinical Optometry. Karlee has completed post graduate specialist certificates in Paediatric Optometry Management; Neuro-ophthalmic Disease Management and Specialist Contact lens fitting and management. This has primed her to work with patients whose symptoms or concerns lay a little outside the box. Karlee is an Honorary Teaching Fellow for the University of Auckland and has been supervising/ mentoring final year optometry students from both Auckland and Deakin Universities for the last 4 years. She is passionate about teaching and mentoring future and new graduate optometrists to ensure excellence of the profession continues and patients are given the superior quality testing they deserve. By paying it forward, Karlee can give back to the profession that she loves. Over the past 13 years she has worked for smaller, independent practices as well as many of the big corporate companies and optometry chains learning what she likes and dislikes. For this reason Karlee is very passionate about both the glasses/contact lenses that people wear and the health of their eyes focussing on preventative eye care. Karlee’s vision for the “new” Look Of Australia has made a commitment to “Eyecare for Life”. This has been achieved by completely refitting the optometry room with the most up to date optometry equipment, ensuring Jean and Karlee have access to the latest technology to care for you and your eyes; and also by investing in the Dispensing Visioffice; ensuring the most accurate measurements to customise your frame to your face and your lenses to your frames. Look Of Australia are the first in Hobart to adopt this new technology.
We believe in creating a completely professional and specialist experience that’s centred around you.
We are passionate about carrying exclusive optical frames and sunglasses that are only available to the independent markets or us. Not only are they fun and exciting but they come with superior quality to match. We are extremely fussy about the brands and styles we carry. The expert dispensing staff at Look Of Australia realise the importance of your eyewear and understand that glasses become a huge part of your personality. We will consistently ensure we have a wide variety of styles and colours to suit you and your lifestyle as well as providing you with the customer service you deserve.
Being an independent optometry practice that is locally owned and operated is essential to us. We do not belong to any buying groups, meaning we have the freedom to provide the service and quality you deserve. We are not accountable to anyone but you. Our optometrists and dispensers are therefore making recommendations based on your specific visual needs and requirements. This inspires us to source better products and services than corporate stores and optometry chains as we aren’t locked into any specific buying agreements. We have done this purposefully as focussing on your care is what is important to us.
