Karlee has completed post graduate specialist certificates in Paediatric Optometry Management; Neuro-ophthalmic Disease Management and Specialist Contact lens fitting and management. This has primed her to work with patients whose symptoms or concerns lay a little outside the box. Karlee is therapeutically qualified and although she looks young- has been practicing for the past 14 years. She loves the beach; or water in general which is not surprising as she is a Pisces. Karlee is mum to 2 fur babies- a little black staffy called “Boss” and a rescue cat from ten lives called “Binks” Her parents moved to Hobart 16 years ago and call themselves honorary Hobartians. This triggered her move from Townsville with her fiancé 2 years ago and they have now found their forever home.
Fiona is a Qualified Optical Dispenser completing her studies in 1996 from RMIT. Fiona has worked for Optometry practices in Hobart, Sydney and London; refining her flair for frame selection in a practice on London’s Fleet Street. There she mastered her craft of selecting frames for influential people like Tony Blair; which would be suitable for his prime ministerial public role and yet also withstand intense media scrutiny. Fiona returned to Hobart in 2005 and has been with “Look of Australia” team for the past 14 years building many positive customer relationships. When not at work you can’t slow her down. She enjoys running; karate and has a keen interest in cycling.
Jean graduated in Optometry in South Africa where she practised for several years before immigrating to Hobart in 1985. Here she was given the opportunity to go into partnership with an experienced dispensing team and establish “Look of Australia” as an independent practice. This journey has allowed her to gain experience in the broad spectrum of Optometry practice. She has also enjoyed building long term relationships of care with her patients over the past 23 years.
Michelle has worked in the optical industry for the last 12 years; managing both private and corporate stores. Michelle came on board to help re-launch the new “look of australia” store and has found her new forever home. Before she was in optical she started her career in a photographic lab which has helped her to develop a natural eye for colour when choosing customer frames and lenses. When she’s not at work she loves to ride her motorbike and scuba dive. Michelle calls her new love her midlife crisis. She’s an avid reader and her newest hobby is knitting. Michelle’s also a mum to 2 fur babies- “Lotti” and “Mouse” who are rescue cats from Ten Lives.
Allycia has been working and developing her skills in the Optical industry for the past 2 years. Although she has developed many helpful dispensing skills in that time she has also discovered a love for designer sunglasses. Unfortunately not only in selling them but also buying them. Allycia is in her 3rd year of Law at the University of Tasmania. In her spare time she enjoys spending time with her family, partner and friends. She is also a mum to one fur baby – a german short-haired pointer puppy named “Pippa”
Daniela is an optical dispenser at Look of Australia. She gained her diploma as an Optical Technician in 2012, in Macedonia. Later, she improved her knowledge at University for Management and upgraded her organising, management and marketing skills, which are key qualities in her role with us. While at University, she was spending most of her free time organising music festivals around Macedonia. Her passion is music and everything to do with music. When she finished her university, she got married and moved to Australia. She enjoys camping and long trips around beautiful Tasmania. Winter is her favourite season and she can't wait for snow to fall, so she can go skiing. Daniela is here almost 4 years and Tasmania is her new home. She found the peaceful place that suits her lifestyle.
Phil is a qualified Optical Dispenser completing his two years of studies in 2005 at T.A.F.E. , N.S.W., Sydney Institute with a focus on Optical Mechanics and Lens designs. Prior to this, he served in The Australian Army as an Infantryman until his discharge in 2003. Also, If you’d believe it, he did take 18months off Optical Dispensing gallivanting around western N.S.W. riding horses and chasing cattle. Phil is getting quite the rep as the spectacle repair guru within this beautiful city of ours, which Phil now calls home.
Phil has mainly worked in country/coastal Optometry Practices around N.S.W. and Q.L.D. You will find a down-to-earth-honest young man who prides himself on his core values; perspective, Integrity and gratitude.
If Phil isn’t at work, he is in the bush camping or climbing some mountain. On the flip-side, he has a bit of a green thumb and loves to wind down getting his hands dirty in the garden. He loves horrible dad jokes and makes us cry, so if you think you can out do him, pop in and give him your best!
